Position Location: Burgmann Anglican School, Forde Campus, Corner Francis Forde Boulevard and Hurrell Streets, Forde
Burgmann Anglican School is an Early Childhood to Year 12 School with campuses located at Gungahlin and Forde.
The school prides itself on its innovative and creative approach to curriculum and education and its strong sense of community and pastoral care of the students and their families and the staff of the school. The school has a strong link with the Gungahlin Anglican Church which shares facilities and resources with the school.
Terms
A Leadership Allowance (Level 1) and 0.2 release will be paid, commensurate with the responsibility of the position.
LINE MANAGEMENT
- Responsible to the Deputy Head of Middle School Learning and Teaching, Head of Middle School and ultimately the Principal.
LEADER OF INNOVATIVE LEARNING (0.2 RELEASE)
- Proactively foster the development of a cohesive teaching and learning culture which is student focused
- Oversee implementation of the Australian Curriculum across Years 6-8 and in collaboration with Years 5 and 9
- Drive and inspire interdisciplinary initiatives, using the principles of Project Based Learning, across each year level
- Oversee and co-ordinate the scope and sequence within the curriculum to ensure a smooth transition for students through different year levels
- Work collaboratively with the middle school leadership team to ensure best practice in teaching, learning and wellbeing across the Middle School
- Use data to inform and improve teaching practices across Middle School
- Understand, share and apply contemporary educational research to meet the needs of young adolescents
- Assist teachers in designing tiered lessons to differentiate instruction in content, process and product, to meet the needs of all students
- Assist teachers in designing lessons utilising high impact teaching strategies
- Explore and implement extension opportunities within and beyond the classroom
TEACHING DUTIES
- Responsible for the pastoral care of a class of Middle School students
- Teach with a focus on developing higher order thinking skills
- Demonstrate a passion for effective teaching and learning
- Collaborate effectively with teaching colleagues
- Contribute effectively to curriculum development
- Liaise with students and parents
- Participate in the school’s co-curricular program which may include weekend activities
- Attend staff meetings and professional development
- Support the Christian ethos of an Anglican School
- Other duties as required

- Ability to lead a small team of staff
- Ability to initiate, promote and manage change
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of the unique needs of Middle School students and a passion to promote best practice in Middle Schooling
- Knowledge of innovative, future focused pedagogy and project-based learning
SALARY, TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The successful applicant will be employed under the Independent Schools (Teachers)Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025. The position attracts a level 1 leadership allowance.
